North and West Yorkshire do battle on Saturday in the Championship, where Middlesbrough take on Huddersfield Town.
Both sides had a positive result in midweek, with the Terriers drawing 0-0 away at Wycombe Wanderers and Boro winning 3-0 at home to Derby County.
Huddersfield Town are winless in their last eight league matches against Middlesbrough (D3 L5), since a 2-1 win at home in March 2013.
In this fixture last season, the visitors should have come away with the points, with Ashley Fletcher somehow managing to turn the ball over the bar from two yards out, but the host hung on for a 0-0 draw.
Middlesbrough manager Neil Warnock has won nine of his 15 league games against former side Huddersfield (W9 D4 L2).
The Terriers have scored exactly one goal in their last five home league games – the Terriers haven’t scored in six in a row at the John Smith’s Stadium since December 2017, whilst Boro have conceded just seven goals in 12 away Championship matches since Warnock’s first away game on March 7th – among ever-present sides in the division, only Luton (5) have conceded fewer on the road in this time.
In the Premier League, Leeds United travel to Merseyside to face Everton at Goodison Park on Saturday.
Leeds United were held to a 0-0 draw against ten-man Arsenal on Sunday, despite hitting the woodwork three times in the match.
Hosts, Everton, won 3-2 at Craven Cottage last weekend, thanks to goals from former Blade, Dominic Calvert-Lewin (twice) and Abdoulaye Doucoure.
Leeds won their last meeting with Everton in all competitions, winning 2-1 in a League Cup tie in September 2012.
Their last league victory against the Toffees came in December 2001 (D2 L3 since).
The Toffees lost their last Premier League home game against Man Utd; they have not lost consecutive home league games since September 2019, which involved defeats against a side from Manchester (Manchester City) and a Yorkshire club (Sheffield United).
West Yorkshire’s League Two sides, Harrogate Town and Bradford City, will continue their FA Cup journey against North West clubs, in Blackpool and Oldham Athletic, respectively.
The Sulphurites won 4-1 in the last round, beating Skelmersdale United 4-1, with goals from Calvin Miller, Mark Beck, Jack Lawlor, and Aaron Martin.
Opponents, Blackpool, lost 3-2 in midweek to Doncaster Rovers despite being two goals up at half time.
In the last round, the Tangerines cruised past Eastbourne Borough, winning 3-0 with goals from former Blades and Owls striker, Gary Madine (twice) and Jerry Yates.
Blackpool have progressed from nine of their last 11 FA Cup ties against sides from a lower division, going out against Barnet in 2015-16 (first round) and Boreham Wood in 2017-18 (first round).
This will be the first ever competitive meeting between Harrogate Town and Blackpool.
Elsewhere in West Yorkshire, Bradford City take on Oldham Athletic at Valley Parade.
The Bantams fired seven past Tonbridge Angels, with goals from Anthony O’Connor (twice), Billy Clarke, Clayton Donaldson, Austin Samuels, Harry Pritchard, and Harry Wood.
Hampton and Richmond Borough were no match for the Latics in the first round, with Oldham beating them 3-2, with goals from Ben Garrity, Bobby Grant, and Danny Rowe.
Bradford have progressed in each of their last three FA Cup ties against Oldham, with this their first meeting in the competition since a 5-1 victory for Bradford in January 1987.
Also, in the FA Cup, Hull City take on Stevenage on Sunday at the Lamex Stadium.
The Tigers comfortably beat Fleetwood Town in the last round, 2-0, with goals from Josh Magennis and Reece Burke.
Stevenage struggled against Concord Rangers, needing penalties to see off the National League South side.
Hull have progressed from eight of their last nine FA Cup ties against sides from a lower division, failing only against Championship side Fulham as a Premier League side in 2016-17.
This will be the first ever competitive meeting between Stevenage and Hull City.
