Hull City were unable to hang on for three points on Saturday, drawing 1-1 with Blackpool at the KCOM Stadium in League One.

After a drab first half, the game sprung into life when Mallik Wilks fired in a low drive first time after a Josh Magennis layoff through two Blackpool defenders into the bottom corner.

Doncaster-born Jerry Yates bundled in the equaliser in the last ten minutes after the Tigers failed to clear a corner, the ball was fired into the six-yard-box before Callum Elder did brilliantly to block the first effort from point blank range before Yates turned the ball in at the second attempt.

The turning point of the contest was when Reece Burke slipped allowing Ben Woodburn to run through one-on-one before Burke brought down the striker just outside the area and received a red card from the referee.

The Tigers should have doubled their lead following two set-pieces that fizzed just wide of the goal.

Hull stay second in the League One table despite dropping points.

Another disappointing weekend for Bielsa's men.

Leeds United lost 0-1 to Brighton and Hove Albion in the Premier League at Elland Road on Saturday.

Neal Maupay scored the only goal of the game early in the first half, tapping the in from inside the six-yard-box after free-following Brighton attack.

The visitors were nearly two-up soon after following Leandro Trossard’s deflected cross that struck the face of the bar.

Leeds improved in the second half, with Jack Harrison fizzing a shot wide but failed to find an equaliser, with Kiko Casilla having little to do down the other end.

The result means that Leeds United are in 12th place in the Premier League.

Scott Hogan had the freedom of the Boro six-yard-box.

Aitor Karanka managed to get one over on Middlesbrough on Saturday, with the Teessiders losing 0-1 at the Riverside Stadium.

Scott Hogan scored the only goal of the game, tapping the ball in from inside the six-yard-box after a free-following Blues move down the right-hand side.

Former Boro players, George Friend, Adam Clayton and Lukasz Jutkiewicz were all involved for the Blues.

Somehow the frame of the goal denied Boro a first half equaliser after Marvin Johnson’s in swinging corner was headed back across the goal by Dael Fry towards Sam Morsy, who turned the ball onto the underside of the bar before the ball bounced off the inside of the post into the grasp of Neil Etheridge.

The visitors stood strong in the second half with Etheridge only needing to make one meaningful save from Duncan Watmore.

The result means that Boro are seventh in the Championship table.

Ryan Schofield had a moment to forget against Watford.

Elsewhere in the Championship, Huddersfield Town were brushed aside at Vicarage Road in their 2-0 defeat to Watford.

It was Terrier’s ‘keeper, Ryan Schofield, who gifted Watford the opening goal in the second half, after he was too slow to react to an Alex Vallejo backpass which gave Tom Cleverley to chance to slide the ball into the back of the net.

Schofield had kept Huddersfield in the game in the first half with a number of good saves, but he was powerless to stop the Hornets second ten minutes later after Kiko Femenia passed the ball across the six-yard-box for the onrushing Joao Pedro who placed the ball into the goal.

Substitute Scott High forced the only real save Daniel Bachmann had to make, but his long ranger was straight at the Hornets ‘keeper.

Huddersfield Town still sit in midtable despite defeat.

Harrogate Town were forced to postpone their League Two fixture at home to Exeter City due to heavy snowfall.

In a statement, the Sulphurites said: “Our SkyBet League Two fixture against Exeter City on Saturday 16th January has been postponed due to an unplayable pitch at the EnviroVent Stadium.”

“The fixture will now take place on Tuesday 19th January, with a 6.30pm kick-off.

“An EFL Referee had carried out a pitch inspection at 12pm on Friday 15th January and concluded the pitch would not be playable by 3pm on Saturday 16th.

“The pitch is currently under heavy snow and taking into account the weather forecast over the next 24 hours the EFL official postponed the fixture.”

The Valley Parade pitch was in good nick despite the snow and ice.

Bradford City were also forced to postpone their League Two home fixture against Crawley Town due to safety concerns caused by the snow and ice in and around the ground.

In a statement, the Bantams said: “The Bantams' Sky Bet League Two visit of Crawley Town - scheduled for tomorrow (Saturday January 16) - has been postponed.”

“Referee Bobby Madley visited the Utilita Energy Stadium this afternoon and concluded he was pleased with the Valley Parade playing surface, and that it was safe for use.

“Snow and ice in areas surrounding the ground, however, make for dangerous conditions and the Utilita Energy Stadium has therefore been deemed unsafe as a wider facility.

“Snow and ice had been cleared from the frost covers - which have remained on the playing surface since Wednesday - in its entirety, thanks to hours of hard work from City's ground staff.

“But, with Valley Parade and Burlington Street outside the stadium particularly hazardous - and more adverse weather forecast - the EFL has made the decision to postpone the fixture.”

The Bantams are still yet to get their 2021 campaign underway.
