Huddersfield Town were victories in Saturday’s Championship Yorkshire derby, beating Middlesbrough 3-2.
The Teessiders did start off the better, with Marvin Johnson firing in the game’s opening goal after just 14 minutes.
However, the Terriers flipped the game on its head before the end of the first half with two very different finishes, the first coming from Carel Eiting, who swept the ball into the bottom corner from the edge of the box, before a slip from Fraizer Campbell allowed the ball to loop over on-rushing ‘keeper Marcus Bettinelli.
Boro thought they had grabbed a point inside the last ten minutes after striker Britt Assombalonga converted a penalty he won after being fouled by Naby Sarr.
But just two minutes later Josh Koroma hammered in the winner after he cut in from the left-hand side.
The result sees the gap between the sides drop to three points, with Middlesbrough in tenth and Huddersfield in 13th.
Leeds United got back to winning ways in the Premier League on Saturday afternoon, beating Everton at Goodison Park, 1-0.
Raphinha scored his first Whites goal since signing in the summer, firing the ball into the bottom corner through the legs of Everton defender, Ben Godfrey, with just over ten minutes left in the game.
Jack Harrison nearly put the Whites a goal up in the first half, hitting the post from yards out after a great cross from Mateusz Klich; the best of a number a good chances for the visitors, as they more than matched the hosts throughout the game.
The Toffees did have a couple of goals disallowed for offside, but the victory went the way of the better side, leaving Leeds just inside the bottom half of the table.
It was a disastrous weekend for Harrogate Town, Bradford City and Hull City, who all crashed out of the FA Cup.
Ten-man Harrogate Town were beaten 4-0 by League One side, Blackpool, at Wetherby Road on Saturday.
After a goalless first half, Blackpool turned on the style when Luke Garbett’s corner went all the way in, seemingly off a Town player.
Grant Ward added a second on the hour mark, before two late goals from Jordan Gabriel and Daniel Kemp sealed the win for the Seasiders.
Kevin Lokko went loco just before Kemp added the fourth, receiving a red card in the 90th minute.
Elsewhere on Saturday, Bradford City lost 2-1 at home to Oldham Athletic at Valley Parade.
The Bantams did take the lead after ten minutes when Clayton Donaldson converted from the penalty spot.
However, the visitors were level just six minutes later, after an unbelievable curling strike from distance by Connor McAleny.
Danny Rowe put the Latics ahead just after half time, firing Oldham into the next round of the FA Cup.
Finally, Hull City lost 6-5 on penalties to Stevenage after drawing 1-1 at the Lamex Stadium on Sunday.
Tom Eaves converted from the spot early into the second half before Elliot List equalised just 11 minutes from time.
Neither side found a winner in extra time meaning the tie would be decided on penalties.
However, the Tigers crashed out after Sean McLoughlin was denied from the spot following a successful Ben Coker penalty in sudden death.
The result means their will only be no East Yorkshire side in the FA Cup third round, one North Yorkshire side (Middlesbrough) and two West Yorkshire sides (Leeds United and Huddersfield Town).
