Sheffield Wednesday and Barnsley will battle it out at Hillsborough as they face each other in the Championship on Saturday.

Hosts, Wednesday, were defeated by Yorkshire rivals, Huddersfield Town on Tuesday, losing 2-0 thanks to goals from Isaac Mbenza and Josh Koroma.

Visitors, Barnsley, beat Wycombe Wanderers 2-1 at Oakwell in midweek with goals from Callum Styles and Cauley Woodrow.

Tony Pulis' only likely change here will be a forced one with Liam Palmer replacing the injured Julian Borner.

Liam Shaw is back available after he completed his suspension but is unlikely to replace any of the midfield trio that faced Huddersfield.

Valerien Ismael could make three changes for the short trip to Hillsborough with Michal Helik, Herbie Kane, and Dominik Frieser all in contention for recalls.

Long-term absentees Mike Bahre and Ben Williams are the away side's only injured players.

The Owls are undefeated in their last 11 matches against the Tykes in all competitions.

Matthew Olosunde on the ball for the Millers

Elsewhere in the Championship, Rotherham United host Bristol City on Saturday at the AESSEAL New York Stadium.

Last time out, the Millers lost 2-0 away to Watford on Tuesday night, with Christian Kabasele and Troy Deeney on the scoresheet for the Hornets.

Visitors, Bristol City, won 1-0 against Blackburn Rovers in midweek thanks to a late Famara Diedhiou goal.

Rotherham boss Paul Warne will likely revert back to the 4-3-3 system for the visit of Bristol City.

Joe Mattock is doubtful with an ankle injury so Wes Harding will likely fill in on the left.

Wingers Florian Jozefzoon and Mickel Miller are both in contention for recalls should Warne opt for the 4-3-3.

The Millers have conceded at least two goals in their last five matches in the Championship.

The Rovers players celebrate.

In League One, Doncaster Rovers will face Gillingham at the Keepmoat Stadium on Saturday.

Last time out, Rovers beat ten-man Northampton Town 2-0 away from home with goals from Tyreece John-Jules and Joe Wright.

Gillingham were knocked out of the Papa John’s Trophy in midweek, losing 2-0 to Cambridge United on Tuesday.

Doncaster have drawn their last four home matches against Gillingham in all competitions but are undefeated in ten of their last 11 home matches in League One.

Sheffielder and Owls fan, Jamie Vardy, celebrates scoring the winner at Bramall Lane last weekend.

Finally, in the Premier League, Sheffield United will face Southampton on Sunday at the St. Mary’s Stadium.

The Blades lost 2-1 to Leicester City last weekend at Bramall Lane, with Oli McBurnie grabbing a goal for the hosts between Ayoze Perez’s strike and Sheffield-born Jamie Vardy’s last-minute winner.

The Saints were victorious in their South-Coast Derby on Monday night, coming from behind to beat Brighton and Hove Albion 2-1, with a goal from Jannik Vestergaard and a Danny Ings penalty.

Ethan Ampadu, Enda Stevens and Lys Mousset remain doubts for struggling Sheffield United.

Southampton won both Premier League meetings with Sheffield United last season – they have not won three league games in a row against the Blades since winning four consecutively against them in the second tier in 1950.

Sheffield United are winless in all 11 of their Premier League games so far this season; the last side to fail to win any of their opening 12 Premier League fixtures from the start of a campaign were QPR in 2012-13 (a competition record 16 without a win).

In English top-flight history, only Manchester United in 1930-31 have won as few or fewer points after 11 league games (zero) as the Blades (one).
