Barnsley were the only EFL side in South Yorkshire to win on Saturday, beating Nottingham Forest 2-0 at Oakwell, in the Championship.
The Tykes struck twice late on to secure the points with goals from Callum Styles and Cauley Woodrow.
Styles hammered the ball into the top corner from the edge of the box with just five minutes left on the clock, before Woodrow placed his shot from the six-yard box into the corner three minutes later.
The hosts could have been two goals up at halftime, with Woodrow and Conor Chaplin striking the bar from long range, before Woodrow hit the bar again midway through the second half.
Barnsley climb to 13th in the table, whilst Forest sit in 20th.
In the Premier League, Sheffield United’s poor run of form continued, losing 1-0 to West Ham United at Bramall Lane on Sunday.
Sebastien Haller scored the games only goal ten minutes after halftime, hammering the ball into the top corner from the edge of the box.
The Blades did have plenty of chances to get onto the scoresheet, none better than Oli McBurnie’s chance with 13 minutes left, after he ran through and struck the bar.
However, the defeat means that Sheffield United are still looking for their first win of the season and sit bottom of the table, whilst the Hammers move up to eighth.
It was not the dream start for Sheffield Wednesday and Tony Pulis at Deepdale, as Preston North End pick up their first home win of the season.
Tom Barkhuizen fired in the only goal of the game just after halftime when Wednesday failed to deal with a cross into the box.
Pulis’ men were not helped by striker Josh Windass who was sent off 18 minutes in for a high foot on Joe Rafferty.
The Owls never looked like turning the game around, and stay 23rd in the table, whilst the Lilywhites rise into the top half.
Rotherham United were also defeated by a goal to nil on the road on Saturday, losing out to Swansea City at the Liberty Stadium.
Matt Grimes scored the only goal of the game midway through the first half, firing through a crowded penalty area from 25 yards.
The Swans should’ve increased their lead going into halftime through Jamal Lowe after Millers stopper, Jamal Blackman, rushed out of his goal giving Lowe a open net to aim at, but his first time strike hit the outside of the post.
It was then Wes Harding who denied the hosts a certain goal in the second half, brilliantly blocked Jake Bidwell’s shot on the line.
The Millers did nearly snatch a point late on with their best chance of the game after a Matt Smith header was kept out by Ryan Bennett and Jay Fulton on the line, with the former seemingly handling it.
This was turned away by the referee and the defeat means that Rotherham stay in 19th whilst Swansea move up to fourth.
In League One, Doncaster Rovers equalised deep into stoppage time to earn a point against Sunderland at the Keepmoat Stadium.
Fejiri Okenabirhie managed to bundle home his late winner in the 93rd minute after a low cross by Brad Halliday.
Grant Leadbitter did put the visitors a goal up just before halftime with a wicked strike from range that flew into the top corner.
The result means that Rovers sit 11th in the table whilst the Black Cats drop eighth.
