The English Football League’s midweek fixtures kick off at seven o’clock on Tuesday night when Sheffield Wednesday face AFC Bournemouth in the Championship at Hillsborough.

The Owls come into this fixture off the back of four consecutive defeats, including a disappointing 1-0 loss away to Wycombe Wanderers on Saturday.

Pressure is building on boss Garry Monk after only picking up six wins in the league so far in 2020.

Visitors, Bournemouth, have only won one of their last five, however they are still unbeaten in the league this season.

Last time out, the Cherries salvaged a draw in the final ten minutes of their fixture against Derby County, with Rodrigo Riquelme coming on off the bench to level the game at 1-1.

Wednesday will be looking to narrow the gap between themselves and the rest of the table as they desperately search for a formula to end their poor run of form.

Alex Mowatt celebrates his stunning strike.

Barnsley manager, Valerien Ismael, will be looking to make it three wins from three on Tuesday night as they travel to the Cardiff in the Championship.

It has been a superb start for Ismael after wins against QPR and recently, Watford at home.

The Tykes will be hoping midfielder Alex Mowatt can repeat his breath-taking strike which won them the game against the Hornets on Saturday.

Hosts, Cardiff City, conceded in stoppage against QPR at the weekend, losing 3-2 despite a brace from Joe Ralls.

Barnsley are certainly the inform team going into this clash with the Bluebirds winless in their last four games.

Both sides sit on ten points with Barnsley above Cardiff on goal difference, so a win for either side will put significant daylight between the teams.

Rovers captain, Ben Whiteman, doing his defensive duties.

Finally, on Tuesday, Doncaster Rovers will travel to AFC Wimbledon in League One.

Rovers pulled off a brilliant performance at the weekend against Lincoln City at the Keepmoat Stadium.

Captain Ben Whiteman scored a stunning volley which proved to be the only goal in the match.

As for the home side, they played out a 1-1 draw with fierce rivals MK Dons.

Wimbledon took the lead inside the opening ten minutes with a goal from Joe Pigott.

However, their lead lasted under three minutes when Scott Fraser equalised for the hosts.

The fixture will be the very first at AFC Wimbledon’s new Plough Lane stadium and Rovers will be hoping they can be the first side to taste victory on the hallowed turf.

Rotherham defense caught out at the Bet365 Stadium.

On Wednesday night, Rotherham United will face Luton Town at the AESSEAL New York Stadium in the Championship.

The Millers fell flat at the Bet365 Stadium on Saturday, losing 1-0 to Stoke City.

Visitors, Luton, were comfortably beaten in their last fixture, a 3-0 home defeat to Brentford.

Both sides will be looking to get back to winning ways, with the Millers needing three points so they can stay clear of the relegation zone.
