Rotherham United scored a late winner with Matt Crooks to beat Preston North End 2-1 in the Championship on Saturday.

Richard Wood opened the scoring early in the second half for Rotherham, after a superb control and volley inside the box.

A fierce strike from Ryan Ledson gave the visitors an equaliser with just ten minutes remaining, sneaking through lots of bodies into the bottom corner.

However, the Millers took all three points with just a few minutes remaining after mazey run from Florian Jozefzoon found Crooks, who slotted the ball past the ‘keeper.

The Lilywhites did hit the post right at the end, but the Millers hung on to claim the points.

The win moves Rotherham five points clear of the relegation zone whilst Preston drop to 14th.

Victor Adeboyejo curls home Barnsley's second goal.

Barnsley returned to winning ways with a 2-0 win over Derby County at Pride Park in the Championship.

The home side were without manager Phillip Cocu and it showed when a mistake by the Rams’ goalkeeper, David Marshall, gave the ball straight to Conor Chaplin and was unable to stop the following strike into the net.

Victor Adeboyejo made sure the points were on their way back to Oakwell after he curled a brilliant shot past Marshall with seven minutes left to play.

The Tykes rise to 16th place whilst Derby now sit rock bottom of the Championship, two points off safety.

Josh Windass takes a strike at the Millwall goal.

Sheffield Wednesday jumped above Derby County in the Championship after a 0-0 draw with Millwall at Hillsborough.

The Owls gave the Lions a good battle, creating plenty of half-chances throughout the match that were often denied by Millwall stopper, Bartosz Bialkowski.

Millwall did have some chances of their own, the best coming from Matt Smith who outmuscled Joost Van Aken seven yards out but got his header all wrong and turned it wide.

Wednesday earn back-to-back home clean sheets for the first time this year and jump up to 23rd in the table, whilst the visitors drop to nineth.

Fejiri Okenabirhie turns his marker.

Doncaster Rovers secured their place in the next round of the FA Cup and avoid an upset by cruising past FC United of Manchester, 5-1.

Rovers opened the scoring on 13 minutes when Brad Halliday broke down the right-hand side and squared the ball to Fejiri Okenabirhie for an easy tap-in.

Ben Whiteman doubled the scoring with tidy finish after breaking the Reds offside trap before Regan Linney got one back for the part-timers after capitalising on a mistake from Reece James.

Josh Sims restored the two-goal advantage just minutes later after he cut in from the left and found the bottom corner.

Deflected strikes from James Coppinger and Josh Sims either side of halftime put the game out of reach for FC United.

Doncaster will now turn their attention to their tie against Wolverhampton Wanderers u21’s on Tuesday in the Papa John’s Trophy.

Thiago Silva rises highest for Chelsea's third goal.

Sheffield United extended their woeful start to this Premier League season, losing 4-1 against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.

The Blades started well and took the lead after a well worked corner routine was flicked in cleverly by David McGoldrick.

However halfway through the first half, Tammy Abraham hit a shot into the ground that bounced into the corner of Aaron Ramsdale’s goal.

Ben Chilwell got on the end of a Hakim Ziyech cross at the back post to turn in from close range to put the Blues in the lead.

Two late goals sealed the victory for the hosts with Thiago Silva headed in a free-kick before Timo Werner hammered in a fierce strike.

The Blades struggled to get going once Chelsea got their equaliser and now find themselves bottom of the Premier League.
