Sheffield Wednesday recorded their first win under manager Tony Pulis on Saturday, beating Coventry City at Hillsborough 1-0 in the Championship.
Tom Lees grabbed the only goal of the game halfway through the second half, meeting an out-swinging Barry Bannan free-kick, before planting his header into the back of the net.
The first half was littered with a number of half chances for both sides, with Josh Windass missing a couple of good openings for the Owls.
Returning veteran goalkeeper, Keiren Westwood, had to make a few important saved before Wednesday took the lead, but none more so than the one he made just after the goal, diving at full stretch to keep out Amadou Bakayoko.
Windass had a chance in the final stages of the game to wrap up the points but hit his one-on-one shot straight at the Blues ‘keeper.
The result sees Sheffield Wednesday move off the bottom of the Championship, five points off safety.
In League One, Doncaster Rovers won 3-1 away to Burton Albion on Saturday at the Pirelli Stadium.
Fejiri Okenabirhie tapped in the opening goal from close range inside the first ten minutes after good play from Donny down the centre of the pitch.
Taylor Richards gave the Brewers a chance to level after he gave away a penalty just before half time, which Lucas Akins converted.
However, Donny got their chance from the spot deep into stoppage time after Okenabirhie was wiped out inside the Burton box.
Ben Whiteman stepped up and made no mistake, giving Donny the lead going into half time.
Richards then wrapped up the points after he curled a spectacular strike from 25 yards into the top corner.
The result means Doncaster move up tom fourth place in the league but will go top if they win their game in hand.
Sheffield United were denied their first Premier League win of the season thanks to a late goal in their 1-1 draw with Brighton and Hove Albion on Sunday.
Jayden Bogle scored his first United goal on his Premier League debut 18 minutes after half time, with his strike deflecting over Robert Sanchez into the net after a David McGoldrick cutback.
Danny Welbeck equalised in the dying minutes for the Seagulls, controlling well before finishing past Aaron Ramsdale following a knockdown from a Brighton free-kick.
John Lundstram made the Blades’ task harder at the end of the first half, receiving a red card after a VAR review for hard challenge on Joel Veltman.
Oliver Burke should have sealed the points but skyed his effort way over from inside the box.
Brighton had a chance right at the end to win it, but Neal Maupay could not get his header between the post and the points were shared.
Barnsley lost 2-0 to Swansea City at the Liberty Stadium on Saturday in the Championship.
On an utterly dreadful pitch, the Swans took the lead after the Reds failed to clear a deep free-kick which fell eventually to Jamal Lowe who prodded in from six yards out.
In the second half, substitute Victor Adeboyejo had the wrong impact on the game for the Tykes, after he flicked in a Matt Grimes corner into his own net.
Barnsley can count themselves unlucky, being more than a match for Swansea for large periods of the game, however the result means they are 13th in the Championship.
