Jamal Blackman has been in decent form in 2021.

Middlesbrough and Rotherham United will do battle at the Riverside Stadium on Wednesday night in the Championship.

Last time out, Middlesbrough lost 0-1 at home to Blackburn Rovers on Sunday, whilst Rotherham drew 3-3 with Stoke City Matt Crooks (twice) and Michael Smith scoring for the Millers.

Young centre-back Nathan Wood could be recalled to the Boro starting XI after Dael Fry suffered a facial injury against Blackburn.

Anfernee Dijksteel remains sidelined so Djed Spence will keep his place at right-back.

Paul Warne could name an unchanged starting XI for the trip to the Riverside in midweek following an impressive display against Stoke.

The visitors will be without four first-team players on Wednesday night.

Middlesbrough are unbeaten in their last eight home matches against Rotherham in all competitions (W4 D4), since a 5-3 loss in March 1965.

This is the first league meeting between Middlesbrough and Rotherham United since the final day of the 2018/19 Championship season, a 2-1 Middlesbrough win.

Djed Spence drives with the ball against Blackburn.

Neil Warnock has never lost a league match against Rotherham in his managerial career (W12 D5).

His last game against the Millers was a 5-0 win with Cardiff in February 2017.

In their last five seasons at Championship level, Rotherham United have only won back-to-back away games once – winning in March 2016 against Sheffield Wednesday and Ipswich Town under current Middlesbrough boss Neil Warnock.

Boro striker Britt Assombalonga has scored five goals in eight league appearances against Rotherham, scoring those goals for three different clubs – Southend (2), Nottingham Forest (2) and Middlesbrough (1).
